Why Collaboration and Digitalisation Matter in Africa’s Energy Future
Africa’s growing role in global energy highlights the need for stronger collaboration and innovation. At the African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation Forum in Abuja, digitalisation emerged as key to efficiency and decision making, alongside a shift towards coordinated action, practical R&D, and cross-country partnerships. As exhibitors, we engaged stakeholders and supported discussions on digital solutions, while commending efforts to drive a more integrated energy future for Africa.

As Africa continues to play an increasingly strategic role in the global energy landscape, the need for deeper collaboration, stronger institutions, and practical innovation has never been more critical.
The recently concluded African Petroleum Producers’ Organization Forum in Abuja provided a timely platform for this conversation, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and research institutions to align on the future of energy across the continent.
A key theme that resonated throughout the forum was clear: Digitalisation is no longer optional; it is central to efficiency, cost optimisation, and informed decision-making across the energy value chain.
Beyond this, the discussions reflected a broader shift in thinking:
○ From independent efforts to coordinated continental action.
○ From research as theory to research as an engine for execution and competitiveness.
Encouragingly, this shift is already taking shape through:
○ Stronger emphasis on practical, outcome driven R&D
○ Increased commitment to cross country collaboration and knowledge sharing
○ The emergence of structured partnerships and joint initiatives across member countries.
As exhibitors, we connected with stakeholders across the ecosystem and contributed to discussions on how digital solutions can improve efficiency, strengthen operational performance, and support long-term value.
We commend the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization for convening a platform that strengthens alignment, fosters collaboration, and drives a more integrated, forward looking energy agenda for Africa.
